MEC announces the Heat Pump Conversion Rebate Program.

The $200.00 conversion rebate is available to customers that incur expenses converting a fossil furnace to an electric heat pump. The rebate is to help cover the expense of installing new electric wiring to handle the additional load that a heat pump might require.

MEC is offering the Conversion Rebate so that their customers can take advantage of the most efficient heating and cooling system available. In the heating mode, the heat pump is 32% less expensive to operate than a natural gas furnace and 50% cheaper than a propane furnace.

Heat pumps also save in the cooling mode, a 13 SEER heat pump can save 23% over a standard air conditioner. The higher SEER rating the more potential savings in cooling costs.

In addition to the Conversion Rebate MEC continues to offer a $150.00 rebate, which MEC has done since 1997, for installation of a 14 SEER or higher all-electric heat pump in a new home or existing home.
